The one downside of ranking #1 for competitive keywords
A guy accused me of manipulating our results

Every now and then I get comments on my socials that just leave me scratching my head and asking:
What were you thinking?
Case in point:
The other day I posted a screenshot showing the results my partner was getting.
They were taking up the top spots on both Search and Shopping for a highly competitive keyword.
A few hours later, someone replied to that post, trying to “debunk” it.
He typed the same keyword into his browser, didn’t see the same results, and assumed I was manipulating it.
Then, he posted it, thinking that he had caught me lying on the spot…
The funny thing is:
Obviously, the products won’t show up on his screen.
This brand doesn’t sell in his country. Why would they appear there?
If anything, it’s a GOOD thing that they’re not showing up.
I mean…
It’s technically not an “aha, gotcha!” move to point out that our products don’t show up in places we don’t sell.
In fact, when I had another person set their VPN to the correct country and search for the same term…
They got the same results as I had posted.
Anyway, the goal of this email isn’t to rant or dunk on that guy.
I’m sharing this because I take a lot of pride in our team’s craft.
Everyone here puts in a tremendous amount of effort on our clients’ accounts every day, just to make sure they get top-tier results.
In this case:
Secure the top positions on Search & Shopping
Claim multiple listings with different angles (product titles, image styles, customer desires)
Add the “click invites” like GMC promotions, product ratings, free shipping badges.

And I won’t tolerate people discrediting their hard work or implying we’re doing something shady to manipulate results.
Now, I understand why some people might be skeptical.
And honestly, I think a little skepticism is necessary.
There are a lot of bad actors in this space who overpromise, cut corners, or flat-out fake things just to get attention.
But at the same time, I want to show you that… even with rising competition and higher ad costs…
It’s completely possible to dominate Search and Shopping for competitive terms.
It is possible to secure those top positions (at a profitable cost).
It is possible to do it clean, without gimmicks or tricks.
That’s what we’ve helped our partners do in the last 5 years.
And I’m not saying it’s the kind of thing you can set up in an afternoon.
It takes a deep understanding of how Google Ads works and how to apply that knowledge to the account.
But when done right…
You’ll see your ads show up where they need to be, outrank competitors, and generate profitable sales for your brand.
