Stop burning cash on ads (do this instead)

3 methods we've used to gain an edge over bigger competitors consistently

The average small eCommerce brand spent over $75,000 on advertising last year.

The kicker is that most of them struggle against bigger competitors.

Competitors who could easily outspend them 10 to 1.

Spending money on ads to "keep up with the Joneses" is a death sentence for small brands.

Fact is...

You'll never outspend the big brands with virtually unlimited budgets.

But just because you can't beat them at their own game doesn't mean you can't still win...

Over the last four years, we've used three methods consistently to gain an edge over bigger competitors.

1. Identify unique selling propositions that set you apart.

What special advantages, features, or value do you offer that giants like Amazon can't match?

It could be premium materials...

Custom options...

.... Hands-on service...

... Or a niche specialty.

For example, a small shoe company might emphasize their handmade quality or customization capabilities compared to mass-produced footwear.

Craft your ad copy around this unique difference.

2. Explore niche markets or long-tail keywords with less competition.

Instead of battling it out in overcrowded markets, become hyper-focused on an underserved niche audience that's being ignored.

A fishing equipment brand could crush it by speaking directly to passionate ice-fishers in Alaska rather than all anglers everywhere.

Attract micro-fans by catering content and products to their precise needs.

3. Continuously innovate

Rapidly evolve based on marketing tests, customer feedback, and emerging trends.

Create novel value through new products, business models, or marketing channels.

It's about identifying missed opportunities and exploiting them.

Zig when others zag.

Don't just compete - re-invent the game on your own terms.

See you in the next one,
