How small brands can make big profits with Google Ads
Do Google Ads work for a small brand?
That’s the question I often get in my DMs and YouTube comments.
I mean the ones making around $100k—150k/month with a $5k—$10k Google Ads budget.
If you’re below that point…
Google Ads might not be your best bet.
Now, come back to the main question…
Is it profitable with Google Ads if you’re a small brand?
Here’s my answer…
Honestly…
It mostly depends on your product, market, competitors, etc.
But in most cases, you can make it work…
You’ll just need a very different strategy tailored to your lean budget.
Here’s what I mean by that…
You won’t have much money to waste if you have a limited budget.
And the smaller the budget, the less room you have for errors.
Everything needs to be fully optimized.
Here are a few key things my team has found to work really well…
1. Find your unique selling point.
First, search your keywords and see how your competitor’s doing.
Check their prices, budget, images, targeting, and angles.
If you want to be profitable on Google, you gotta find an edge.
Find out the gap in the market.
And turn it into your unique selling proposition.
2. The gameplan
If you’re starting out, run Shopping Ads to gauge product demand.
Once you’ve found winning keywords, move to Search.
Then, scale with YouTube Shorts.
3. Optimize GMC and product feed
Merchant Center is the engine behind shopping ads.
With an optimized GMC, you will:
• Lower your costs
• Improve search visibility
• Boost the number of clicks
On top of that…
Google has been pushing more Shopping organic results lately.
Before, it was a hidden feature where you had to select on Google manually.
But right now, you can see those shopping organic results directly on the main page.
If your product feed is fully optimized…
You can show up in those sections for free clicks.
4. Optimize Landing Pages
As the auction will be very competitive…
You need to convert from as many clicks as possible.
So optimize your conversion rate and align your LPs with your ads' messaging.
5. Get your tracking dialed in.
I remembered talking to so many brands who thought they were crushing it…
Only to find out their tracking was all jacked up.
And I had to tell them that they were double-counting or triple-counting their sales.
So yeah, get your attribution dialed in.
6. Execution
And the most important thing: Execution.
Strategies are just theories if you don’t implement them.
Especially in the advertising field.
It all comes down to executing the fundamentals better than your competition.
Write better copy. Split-test your headlines. Shot better images. Update your keywords. Etc.
I’ve learned that the biggest brands don’t always win.
It’s the brands who do the fundamentals well.
Your success is the direct result of your execution.
But here’s the thing…
As a former eCom owner…
I understand how difficult execution can be sometimes.
Most eCom brands don’t have a team full of experienced copywriters and media buyers.
They don’t check the newest Google Ads update every single day.
They don’t autistically optimize the smallest settings to squeeze every last revenue drop.
But that’s alright.
That’s why we make our YouTube videos to give you the exact playbook we use to make millions of dollars for our clients monthly.
We record these videos to be as concise and practical as possible…
So that anyone can take and apply them to their own business.
If you'd like to execute your Google Ads finally…
