Massive shopping update just went live in ChatGPT
ChatGPT’s just transformed into a new playing field

A week ago, OpenAI rolled out a massive update for eCom brands.
Before this, ChatGPT could only recommend products.
If someone wanted to purchase, they had to click through to the merchant’s site and finish checkout there.
Now the entire process can happen inside the platform.
In other words:
ChatGPT just went from a product discovery tool to a sales channel.
On top of that, this proves that people are genuinely using ChatGPT to search for products.
A company like OpenAI wouldn’t invest resources into building this if the data didn’t show clear demand.
And that means…
More and more people are shopping inside ChatGPT.
This traffic segment is growing every day, and it’s expected to keep expanding over the next few years.
That creates a big opportunity for brands that figure this out early.
Just like when Facebook and Google Ads first came out…
Early adopters will capture the lion’s share of reach before the market catches up.
Those who moved fast got outsized returns… because competition was low and demand was high.
The best part is, this isn’t a pay-to-win model (at least not yet).
OpenAI pulls product data from across the web and ranks products based on how well they fit what the user is looking for.
So if your products match, you can appear in front of millions of high-intent buyers… for free.
But here’s the bad news…
As good as the benefits sound, only a handful of brands will appear for each query.
So for every ONE brand that discovers how to appear in ChatGPT’s results…
Thousands will never get their shot.
