How to write ad copy with AI (without sounding like a bot)
The trouble I have with chatGPT

Writing Google Ads copy is one of the easiest and hardest things for eCom brands to pull off.
It’s easy because everyone can crank out decent copy in minutes with AI.
But when everyone's using the same tools (with the same prompts)...
The messages end up being generic.
And generic messages lead to average results.
Don’t get me wrong. AI has its place. We use it a lot in our workflow.
But the problem starts when brands rely on it.
AI is useful for “generic” tasks. Tasks where it’s fine if everyone receives the same output.
But writing ad copy isn’t that type of task.
There are 2 crucial elements that are different for each brand:
Your market's unique voice and your brand's distinct personality
That’s the hard part of ad copy - crafting messages that both resonate with your audience AND showcase what makes your brand special
So how do you nail this?
For the first part of the equation, speak your audience's language.
Nothing builds trust faster than someone who talks just like you do.
It’s like meeting someone who just “gets it”.
But it goes deeper than just language.
You need to understand what truly drives your customers.
Their real challenges, pain points, and desires
This only comes from diving deep into your market.
Because for different audiences, the same product can have 2 completely different messages
For example:
Say you’re selling a fitness tracker…
The language you use for professional athletes would be very different for busy professionals.
Not just the language, but also the goals and desires.
For athletes: "Engineered for athletes. Analyze every move, optimize recovery, and hit your next PR with precision."
For professionals: "Stay productive and healthy. Sync your life, track your health, and get gentle nudges to keep moving."
What about the second part - showing your brand’s unique value?
It’s all about leaning into what makes you different.
You need to provide a reason compelling enough to make someone click on your ad instead of competitors.
One small advantage doesn't just win you a few more customers.
It can win you all of them.
An easy way to do that is to scout your competitors’ ads.
If they don’t offer any guarantees and you do? that’s your advantage.
That’s 2 simple tips to help you write better copy and get more clicks.
You can use AI to get the first draft out.
Then apply these 2 principles to customize it.
That’s how you create ad copy that gets people to buy.
