How effective are Search Ads for eCom brands?
Here’s what our data says...

A lot of brands have been asking us about the effectiveness of Search Ads for eCommerce.
To answer that question, let’s look at what the data says from our clients…
When it comes to branded campaigns, Search Ads usually drive the highest profits and revenue.
Take this brand, for example:
In 31 days, Search Ads generated 90% of their branded revenue ($247K).
Or this one:
Search campaigns brought in 78% of branded sales ($751K) in the same period.
These results aren’t surprising.
When people type your brand’s name into Google, they expect your site to show up.
And nothing captures that buying intent better than Search Ads.
But what about prospecting?
That’s where things vary.
Typically, prospecting campaigns on Search don't perform as well as Performance Max or Shopping campaigns.
And it makes sense.
If someone hasn’t heard of your brand, visuals usually grab attention more effectively than text-only ads.
That said, Search Ads can still drive a solid chunk of revenue.
With proper optimization, there’s a lot more money left on the table than most brands realize.
One of our clients had issues with their Google Merchant Center.
So the only option available to us was Search Ads.
Even with this limitation, we multiplied their revenue by 6X in just one month.
We did it by pulling two main levers:
1. Increasing clicks by 2.5x
2. Boosting their conversion rate by 2.5x
What this means is…
They didn’t just get more traffic.
The quality of that traffic also improved, which led to significantly more conversions.
The key was precision.
Specifically, we focused on:
Getting in front of the right people (through highly targeted search terms)
Saying the right thing (by rewriting ad copy to speak directly to them)
In other words:
We created perfect alignment between what customers searched for and what our ads offered.
This way, we stripped away every friction point in the buyer journey.
The bottom line:
There’s still a lot of money to be made with Search Ads for eCom brands.
People are still searching with buying intent.
And if you show up at the right moment with the right offer and message…
There’s no reason for them not to buy from you.
